Doin' Big Thangs: The Root's Michael Harriot Inks a Two-Book Publishing Deal; Will Bring 'Wypipology' to the Masses

He has clapped back at our hate mail weekly; regularly educates us on the inextricable links between American history and racism; has called out Pete Buttigieg on the biases and policies that most affect black America (prompting a sit-down with the presidential hopeful himself); and just this past weekend, The Root’s…

Baby boy comes into the world like a boss on the last full moon of the decade, born on 12/12 at 12:12 a.m.

On Dec. 12 at 12:12 a.m., Denarius Bell of Illinois was born and his coming into the world has made a lasting memory.

The 7 pounds, 4-ounce baby boy, who reportedly was due to arrive weeks later, was actually born early, arriving on the last full moon of this decade, known as the “Cold Moon,” according to ABC News. The Farmer’s Almanac says the Cold Moon “reaches peak fullness at 12:12 A.M. EST on the 12th day of the 12th month.”

Mom Denarrika Fisher, and dad, Charles Bell, of Belleville delivered Denarius at the Women and Infants Center at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois. Because of the timing of his birth, now Fisher says she will nickname her son, “Moon,” according to Good Morning America.

Fisher was propped up on the bed holding Denarius and a sign that read: “Baby Bundle Delivered 12/12 12:12.”

“His birth date and time will be really easy to remember the rest of his life,” Fisher told Good Morning America before adding that it took her a while before she even recognized the significance of Denarius’ birth date. Fisher said her own mother was the one who pointed out the time on the clock before it was confirmed by the hospital nurse.

Both mom and baby are doing well, according to a hospital spokesperson.

“He was originally due on December 30 but decided to come early for this numeric and lunar coincidence,” the spokesperson told KHQ Channel 6.

Fisher said she didn’t initially notice the time and date coincidence until the nursing staff realized it while noting the birth information upon the delivery.

“12s are wild at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Women and Infants Center. Baby born at 12:12 on 12/12. Welcome Baby Denarius!” the hospital tweeted out.

The Farmer’s Almanac said the Algonquin tribes named the last full moon in December the Cold Moon because of the month’s long, cold nights.

Zion Williamson Pelicans Rookie Card Worth over $100,000 Found in New York Shop

The man hasn’t played a professional basketball game, yet is already setting records! According to Bleacher Report, Zion Williamson’s New Orleans Pelicans rookie card worth over $100,000 has been found in a New York shop.

A customer at Dave & Adam’s Card World in Williamsville, New York, has picked a Zion Williamson rookie basketball card worth more than $100,000 out of a pack. The store announced via its Twitter account.

The basketball card is a Zion Williamson “Panini Prizm Black” rookie card. The card, which features Williamson in a New Orleans Pelicans jersey appearing to dunk a basketball, says 1-of-1 on the back of the card. Dave & Adam’s said a similar Williamson card, which was numbered out of 10, was listed for $25,000, and another numbered out of five listed for $45,000. There’s also an autographed Williamson card listed on eBay for $100,000.

Williamson, who was a member of Duke University’s Blue Devils in his only collegiate season, averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 68% from the floor. He took home the top individual award, the Naismith Player of the Year, and also collected ACC Player and Rookie of the Year honors before entering the NBA draft and being selected with the top pick of the 2019 draft by the New Orleans Pelicans.

He set the single-game school scoring record for freshmen in January 2019, claimed ACC Rookie of the Week accolades five times, earned AP Player of the Year, Sporting News College Player of the Year recognition, and won the Wayman Tisdale Award.

Dave and Adam’s was founded in 1991 when two friends decided to open a small card store in Buffalo, New York. Twenty-eight years later, Dave and Adam’s is regarded as the largest online seller of trading cards in the world. Dave and Adam’s is locally owned and operates a 35,000-square-foot office and warehouse facility in Tonawanda, in addition to a retail superstore (over 40,000 square-feet) located in Williamsville.
