Nia Long dons ‘Illmatic’ shirt in social media photos, gets Nas’ attention

Rappers have crushed on Nia Long for decades. She has been name-dropped in more than a dozen songs – from Nas’ “Oochie Wally” to J. Cole’s “No Role Modelz.”

Last week, Nia returned some of that love when she posted three photographs to Twitter and Instagram donning a sweater with Nas’ 2007 XXL cover on the front, according to Hip Hop DX. The timeless and iconic Boyz in the Hood actress captioned the first photos: “Illmatic,” the second one, “Illmatic pt. 2” and the last one “Still ill.”

Fans of the actress let her know that they were here for it, including the “Illmatic” rapper himself.

“U da illest! 💯.” Nas wrote in her comments section.

Other fans voiced their support. “My fave rocking a shirt featuring my fave!” tweeted @LBrothersMedia in response to Nia’s photos.

“Y’all both are amazing,” added @nyknick4lyfe.

“Dayuuum still Fine!!!! Dat late jones,” posted actor, Larenz Tate, before he corrected himself. “**late night jones” and added the wink emoji.

On his 2001 hit “Oochie Wally,” Nas let us all know that he was feeling Long. “Like Nia Long in a cherry thong with the lights on,” he rapped in the catchy tune. A few years ago, in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Nia discussed the rap songs that mentioned her by name and said Nas’ song made her run out and buy a cherry thong after she first heard it.

Another song Nia discussed was J. Cole’s No Role Modelz when he rapped “my only regret was too young for Nia Long.” Nia told Larry King said no he ain’t. ‘He’s really not too young. He just doesn’t know it,” she said.

The beloved actress has also been included in songs by Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne, A Tribe Called Quest and Missy Elliott, among many others.
